The Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) gave recognition to the Voters’ Education Program of the Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) by awarding it with the coveted Anvil Award of Excellence for year 2010. The award was shared by PPCRV’S Public Relations Consultants, Gatchie and Partners Image and Advocacy Consultants . PPCRV’s public relations program was selected out of a wide field of almost 400 nominations in the year 2010.

The PPCRV initiatives which merited this recognition were our classroom style voters’ education program conducted in parishes nationwide, our first-of-its kind mall tours wherein PPCRV put up mock polling booths complete with PCOS machines in city and provincial malls, the creations of audio visual materials which showed the step by step procedure of automated voting and broadcast through non-traditional media such as Philippine Airlines domestic flights (the uniqueness of this even made the cover page of the Philippine Daily Inquirer!), ferries to and from Negros, bus liners traversing medium to long haul routes, our house-to-house provincial campaigns, the creation of multiple education tools such as our Botong Boto Ka na Ba! step by step manuals , on the spot training in polling centers on election day itself, national presidential and vice-presidential debates, local forums featuring provincial candidates and massive tri-media campaign which enlightened voters on the new automated way of voting with our hallmark values-driven approach for an enlightened electorate. Based on a conservative estimate conducted by our Communications and Media Director, Ana de Villa Singson, our voter’s education campaign trained approximately 14.2 million voters on a direct face-to-face basis and another 6.3 million voters who were reached indirectly by our tri-media campaigns.
Truly this recognizes the passionate, creative and innovative volunteerism of each and every PPCRV volunteer . It likewise highlights the effectiveness of our distinct grassroots parish-based structure which allows us to reach voters even in the remotest areas .
We would like to extend special appreciation as well to volunteers Resti and Jeannette Reyes who head Gatchie and Partners Image and Advocacy Consultants. Working on a pro bono basis, they helped us to partner with media in generating media awareness which brought our voters’ education program to an even wider viewing public.
